I searched for it. Ordered it. Waited for it. Finally, despite the delays due to the massive overload of orders received, it arrived.
Yes, yes, it's here. Indeed, it is.
So... I have it here with me: the latest volume of the Poletti Universal Encyclopedia.
With the Good Stoner's Guide in hand, I threw myself to page 1234 to check the entry: Zakk Wylde. After revolutionizing my knowledge and discarding my beliefs on "Metal" Guitarist with Southern influences, and acknowledging the Ska Violinist dedicated to covering Depeche Mode in Ozzy Osbourne's Band (former Soprano Sax of the BritPoppers Black Sabbath), I still didn't feel satisfied.
Because the Universal Poletti is like that: you always want more.
And so, an idea popped into my mind as unhealthy as it was unreal. Armed with the latest freshly printed volume, I went to page 911 of vol. - the last without counting updates on groups that will come out in 2010 (yes, he already knows them) - no. 118 to know: where does the immense knowledge of Our Friend end?
Amsterdam, the world capital of horse meat (see The Universal volume 5 page 789). Howler Records. Two friendly horse meat consumers, one dedicated to the drums, one to the keyboard(s?). Howler doesn't really shine for its innovative proposals (see the Bad Wizard), they certainly shine within it as the most advanced. Maybe not the best, certainly the most advanced.
The two propose a blend of sounds truly challenging to categorize, given the oddity of the combo (honestly: Drums & Keyboard never heard anyone else. But I am not Il Poletti). Predominant Rock Structure. But without a guitar, you can't say "rock" without then reconsidering. Besides the fact that it predominates in many pieces, but not all. Well-present Electronic - and I'd like to see the opposite, given the keyboard as the only melodic element. But without basses, you can't say "electronic" without achieving a strange undertone at the end. Maybe Noise, but when you're about to say Noise, a synth appears from stuff like "Mattel's Operation Game". Trend (this needs translation) with a "Surf" flair, with sounds between Noise and Toys, drums between Psychedelic and electroclash. A bit like The weary Doors featuring lazy NIN. Definitely New Sounds, definitely worth keeping an eye on, even if - equally definitely - the margin for improvement is still frighteningly large.
Almost, I say almost, I reiterate almost as vast as Our Friend's Knowledge. Because without the universal, we wouldn't know such things. Enlighten us, o great one.

Bloody Krauts, I tell you! Recently, they’ve made all the pseudo-intellectuals of the worst bars in Caracas jump around.
Since when do Krauts play bloody Rock ’n’ Roll? Well, good on the first try!
