Cut everything.

I was fortunate enough to see Zu live at Lo-Fi in Milan a couple of months ago and, since I hadn't listened to this album yet, I experienced it live for the first time. Obviously, it was a performance that left me stunned by the quality and sonic power expressed, and to think that they only played as a duo (bass and drums) without the saxophonist. Speaking of the album, this "Cortar todo" presents some differences and new sonic elements (not necessarily a bad thing) compared to their previous works, but it remains a very solid record that flows fast, unrelenting, and mostly heavy: an incessant and noisy bass that churns out metal-flavored riffs as if it were raining, a hammering drum that is just as relentless and destructive as you'd wish many other bands would be, and a crazy sax that peeks in and ties everything together perfectly, creating that noise that I like so much. Fans of the genre and the band will surely appreciate this new attempt, which, while adding something new to the band's career, doesn't deviate too much or completely overturn the "classic Zu style." Of course, it might not reach the heights of their masterpieces, but in my opinion, it did not disappoint expectations and remains a very valid and solid album. For those unfamiliar with the genre and the band, I wouldn't know what to say, just give it a listen.
