It is always a great pleasure for me to positively review Italian underground albums, especially when they come from my beloved south, as is the case with the new album by Zora, an extreme metal band from Vibo Valentia.

“Gore” is the band’s third studio work (following the excellent “Dismembered Human Race” and “U.V.A.”) and it is also their first full-length, since it is composed of ten tracks that are ten shards of Brutal Death rage. This album only confirms the qualities of this band, composed of three musicians, I repeat and underscore, three musicians, a rarity in the genre, given the complexity of the music proposed. Opening is the devastating “Hipocrysy”, a concentration of pure violence that travels between extremely tight rhythms and heavy riffs, as does the second track “Humanimal.” “R.I.P.” and “Sign Your Body” are absolutely brilliant, the best of the entire album. The former is a very straightforward and short piece that will leave you completely stunned by the sonic impact. In “Sign Your Body” instead, Peppe's excellent growls mix with twisty riffs, in full Cannibal Corpse style.

Also worth mentioning are “Kill Who Kill You,” “Enslaved by the Pigs” (the fun taunting insertions using snippets from television programs at the beginning and end of the track are great), and “Escape,” tracks that travel like an unstoppable earthquake without giving you a moment’s breath. It should also be added that the CD during its play never tires, something that very rarely happens in the genre, given that it is a flaw that even the most famous groups have. More compliments to Zora then, who manage to pull off little masterpieces with each release.

A must-listen for those passionate about the genre.
