LA RECENSIONE

"Zomby is a jerk"

I am perplexed.

You often read opinions of this kind online, it seems that our mysterious producer, who loves peculiar headwear, is a big shot when it comes to being an asshole.

Well, I say, is it true? Isn't it true? "He is an asshole in real life". I keep asking myself: but why do I ask myself?

Ok, I don't really care.

-Where do the undead come from?

-No, because it makes a strange sound

-Yes, it's been a while too

-Shhh, listen, now it has changed

"With Love" is different. The mask changes, without revealing anything else. Just like that, without us noticing. The mutation leads to an intensification of the work done by this once-dead.

With "With Love", he has put in the effort. "With Love" is a double CD with 33 tracks. Almost all quite short, between two and a half and three minutes, sometimes lasting even around a minute. 33 short tracks, frenetic yet fluid mutation, sudden yet continuous, at times a slow and calm navigation if it weren't for the surrounding horror movie landscape, at times anything but calm. In any case, the end is not in sight.

We start with "As Darkness Falls", it almost seems like a declaration of intent. Cold and spectral Dubstep, a couple of minutes and it changes, the same feeling even when we're under a minute. Here, we find ourselves suspended in a limbo over a chaotic and decaying metropolis, it resembles Blade Runner's Los Angeles. An unsettling scenario, not only with these atmospheres created by slow and rhythmic beats but also with sudden bursts of Drum'n'Bass. Burial meets Black Sun Empire. Ruthless stuff.

And then the second CD steps in, more liquid and also more concise. The distances between us and the afterlife shorten, the senses are almost useless. Too dark to see, too silent to hear, too empty to touch.

And then finally, the light at the end of the tunnel.

"With Love". Finally, it's over, I'm alive.

Summary by Bot

Zomby's 'With Love' is a double album featuring 33 brief yet frenetic tracks that shift moods across dark Dubstep and Drum’n’Bass landscapes. The album creates an unsettling, cinematic atmosphere reminiscent of dystopian environments like Blade Runner’s cityscape. While the work is dense and intense, it leaves the listener navigating through a limbo-like experience until the closing moments bring a subtle resolution. The reviewer acknowledges Zomby’s enigmatic persona but focuses primarily on the music’s complex mutation.
