Paêbirú was composed and recorded in 1974 and issued in 1975 in a limited pressing of about 1,300 copies; most copies were destroyed shortly after release. The album has been reissued (including a release by London-based Mr. Bongo Records) and is noted for its psychedelic, tribal and folk textures.
