Yusuf Islam

British singer-songwriter born Steven Demetre Georgiou, known as Cat Stevens and later Yusuf Islam; noted for 1970s folk-pop albums and later returns to recording.

Born Steven Demetre Georgiou on 21 July 1948 in London; rose to fame as Cat Stevens. Converted to Islam in 1977 and adopted the name Yusuf Islam. Returned to recording in the 2000s (for example, An Other Cup, 2006).
