THE REVIEW

I approach this live show with only (and wonderfully) "Days before the day", curious (and at the same time suspicious) about "Toast Master", which seemed a bit fishy with those rather festive singles... Anyway... Sexymomo, a fabulous discovery from Palermo, open the show with amazing hammer and drum crossings that would also open well for the Doors, let alone for the Yuppie Flu... who embrace their instruments around midnight, but in the first half hour (perhaps due to too many expectations) absolutely nothing happens except "Stay on free" and very little else. They play quite well, they are present but something is missing... as if they can't even scratch the fourth wall that divides us from them.

The spark arrives, when I almost didn't believe it anymore with "Food For Ants" that opens a gap, a light filters through the fourth wall which is finally broken down by "Our Nature." From there begins an incredible concert in all its facets from the intense "A good guide" to the whimsical "Deamed frontier." You can feel the turning point, we are more present, they are having fun (especially Matteo on guitar and the keyboardist) and they play very well. There is a nice atmosphere, you can breathe good music and have the awareness of it and in the encore to seal it all, an eight-minute "Drained by diamonds" with final noise asperities as the sublimation of a special group we should brag about, unlike Afterhours, Negramaro, or Subsonica.

At the end of the live show you feel uplifted as if you won 2 to 1 after being down 1 to 0 in the first half.

Yuppie Flu manage to do a lot with a little. Well done.
