THE REVIEW

She is an illustrator and musician, born in Russia, who has lived in Japan and Germany. She creates "Toy Music" cartoons, a cheeky little granddaughter of Pascal Comelade. Musical thoughts drawn on children's notebooks from early elementary grades. Drawings colored by little guitars, ukuleles, various objects she happens to come across that make a nice sound.

Surreal "Toy-like" folk, which might seem very random, but on closer listening reveals sweet harmonic dissonances, echoes of Japanese tradition that are not the result of chance. It's music crafted to sound pure, innocent, and distant. Little marches constructed by playing with the rhythm of random yet thoughtfully chosen instruments, used objects, and a faint little voice that acts as glue for delicate improvised melodies. Let it be clear that there's nothing revolutionary here, but it is the innocence and purity that make this work special in its own way.
