Why doesn't DeBaser have an Emoviolence genre? Damn, it was tough to label this album, yet the true genre is Emoviolence, or Screamo if you prefer.
So, the You And I are a band that have been disbanded for some time now (but not too long ago), but for me, they remain one of the greatest bands I’ve ever listened to. They were part of the Level Plane roster, an American independent label devoted to emotional yet extreme music, alongside other great bands of the scene like Yage, Pg99, Saetia, Envy, and Melt Banana. You And I.
Sharp guitars, pounding bass, screaming voice, desperate, very high, fast drumming, and odd times. Every note is a blow to the heart, every scream a shiver down the spine. And this is exactly what You And I want to describe: despair, anguish, anxiety... And all of this is interspersed with Indie Rock breaks, which complete the work, being sad and melancholic, where the singer seems to cry and gasp, the guitars become relaxed and dark, the tempo slows down. The beauty of this CD, however, lies in its extraordinary sweetness. After suffering, crying, in short, once the last track of the CD ends, you feel a splendid sensation, you feel happy, because you have driven out all the anguish inside you, you have faced your fears. You And I succeed in all this, they manage to make the listener reflect, they manage to bring out the most remote fears, all while your eyes fill with tears and your stomach twists.
However, this should not lead you to think that this is just another Emo band, all girly guitars and effeminate voices, no, if you think that, you're wrong. We're talking about unheard-of sonic violence, real emotions shot straight to the face, music truly made from the heart...
