LA RECENSIONE

First of all, I am a fan of Malmsteen: this album was one of the biggest flops of the new millennium... a huge disappointment from every point of view.
2002: after 2 years of waiting, the album by the Swedish guitarist is released, Attack!!, from which much more was expected... and also a better cover...
Participating are former Rainbow vocalist Dougie White (Malmsteen has now recruited all the former singers of Blackmore) the very talented keyboardist Derek Sherinan (formerly of Dream Theater) and Patrick Johansson on drums. The horrid red cover complete with a horrendous logo already sets a very bad tone… Oh well… let's try to listen to the CD...

The tracks are structured in a very similar way to each other, and to the tracks from previous albums!!! Can you imagine, the solo of the first track "Razor Eater" is identical to that of "Making Love" from the Eclipse album!!! Not to mention the keyboards: very simple sounds, only the use of layers to emphasize everything; in the album, there is only one keyboard solo but it is wedged towards the end of the track "Mad Dog."
The worst thing is the track "Freedom Isn't Free" introduced by a wah-wah brag followed by a decent riff: you might ask why it's terrible? ...Because Malmsteen sings it!!!

An album below mediocrity equipped with a booklet with dark green insides and a red cover (wow what beautiful combinations, congratulations).
