Malmsteen is always Malmsteen... Often associated with being a flashy nuisance but also as the ultimate guitar hero...
Sure, he also has his flaws (he is human, after all!), often repetitive and monotonous, but there is no one else who can create an epic metal style with Blackmore-like classicism and phrasings inspired by Beethoven and Bach, with lightning-fast scales and stunning bends with a velvety touch that only he is capable of giving us...
One of the most significant albums of his career is the third one, "Trilogy": at first glance, the horrid cover makes you think of a crazy album, but just listen to the first track "You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget" to understand the taste of the composition, Yngwie's talent, and the skill of vocalist Mark Boals with an impressive vocal range;
next is "Liar", a track in a power-epic style with a nice and melodic chorus... just a taste of what's to come;
the third track is the beautiful "Queen in Love", where the lyrics and riff make the piece very "Baroque-like"; followed by the beautiful and melancholic "Crying" (where Yngwie shows he knows how to play acoustic guitar!! :P);
a very fast, pounding drum intro opens "Fury", an excellent piece (a pity about the silly lyrics) from an instrumental point of view and for the vocal execution, highlighted by the best guitar-keyboard duet present on the album;
next is "Fire", a hard rock-styled track introduced by a catchy riff and driving bass (Yngwie plays the bass on this CD);
followed by the epic piece "Magic Mirror" where Yngwie uses a low tuning that gives a very "heavy" touch to the piece;
followed by the heavy "Dark Ages", heavy in the true sense of the word (it's quite boring);
at the end, Yngwie gives us "Trilogy Suite Op.5", one of the most beautiful instrumental pieces composed by Yngwie, worth a hundred times the rest of the album...
A very beautiful album but penalized by the lyrics which are trashy and silly... After all, we know what his style is, He is a Viking!!!

Malmsteen had immense talent wasted in his self-importance and his indulgences.
Leaving aside the cover, unbelievably tacky, one cannot remain indifferent to its contents.

Yngwie indeed tortures his Stratocaster incredibly and makes it emit melodies at an astonishing speed.
In my opinion, in his other works (both prior and subsequent), he will never reach the same level as Trilogy.
