Rating: Nowadays, the interest in the morbid has rightly been embraced, thanks to indispensable heroes like Franzoni or the kid Tizio who rapes a schoolmate and films everything for YouTube. Enough with those sappy phrases from Bacio Perugina; our children might be born with a misguided idea of the World, for goodness’ sake!
That's why I have prepared myself best for my future kid, having purchased "Raccogliendo Il Nettare della Figa" by XXX Maniak! I am already savoring the quiet evenings with my wife (regularly married in Church), knowing that at home I've left my beloved son under the care of two psychopaths in suit and tie, who will put him to sleep telling him, for instance, about that time they bought a DVD player to then probably rape a friend with the old cassette player, or when they wondered if dismembering a Potato would still leave it a virgin, and so on. These are just a few titles of the 31 tracks in this Masterpiece, interspersed with clips of porn movies, ambiguous sucking sounds (it could be someone enjoying a Calippo Fizz, haven't you thought about that?!), and excited giggles. There's no time for musically engaged digressions, long solo parts or keyboard-flute duels, here we are talking about sick pills of about 1-minute or-so, some of which are not bad in terms of the catchiness of the riff. It's a pity they end too soon for an objective appreciation. I'm referring in particular to "Lost inside yourself", "Albukkake, NM", and the title track itself, with their rousing and square guitar riffs, which at the best moments have to give way to obscene and misogynistic phrases. The last track, "Harvesting a Dead Deadgirl", stands out from the rest, a pseudo-techno remix around 3 minutes, quite boring to be honest.
The quality is surprisingly high, considering grindgore to the nth degree, since the fat guitars don’t seem recorded in a warehouse and the drums are less drum-machine than usual, with fuller and richer sounds. The collaboration of various artists from the scene is noticeable from the diversity of "vocal" performances, ranging from raucous screams to clogged toilets and even a pig choking from too much laughter ("Desperately Craving Anal Attention", with the aforementioned Calippo as a fitting conclusion). I am saddened by the absence of lyrics in the booklet, usually the only source to fully understand the message these misunderstood artists want to convey to the new generations.
Ultimately, is there really a need for works like this? Isn't it enough with the images of death and unjustified suffering that we see and hear every day thanks to the beloved sensationalist Press? Or perhaps we can take it all as an outburst, an exorcism of this disgust with disgust (a bit like those who fear horror movies but watch them anyway)? Only time will tell.
