Tucson-based musical project formed by Brian Lopez and Gabriel Sullivan that fuses cumbia, psychedelic and desert-rock influences.

Bloodline (their first LP) was released on Glitterhouse Records. The project was started by Brian Lopez and Gabriel Sullivan in Tucson; both have connections to the Giant Sand scene.

Xixa blends cumbia, psychedelic and desert-rock influences into an original sound. Bloodline (2016) is praised for ideas and atmosphere but criticized for uneven execution. The review highlights specific strong tracks and several missed opportunities.

They are certainly one of the most interesting musical projects to come out of the United States in the past year, but at the same time, they are something I must inevitably define as a true 'enigma.'
