LA RECENSIONE

This mini EP by WYX, a Hungarian band with a style somewhat comparable to bands like the Ramones and The Vandals, is excellent.

The EP, released in 1982 on Artisjus Rec, contains two 2-minute tracks. Fresh and sassy vocals on the outstanding "Lie Lie Lie", which stands out for its beautiful choruses and the engaging long solo of 1.30, performed by the talented guitarist Paul. The drumming is precise and direct. Slightly more lackluster is the B-side with a vague new wave flavor "Association", where the singer's performance (still at good standards) is notable. Here, the riffs that characterized the opener are absent; the solos on the track are decidedly too bland and playful, as is the rhythm, which is extremely in the background.

Excluding this detail, the recording is excellent. It's a band that has disappeared without a trace, but offers us a work of good quality. "Lie Lie Lie" alone is worth the entire EP!

WYX's 1982 mini EP delivers a strong punk rock punch reminiscent of Ramones and The Vandals. 'Lie Lie Lie' shines with vibrant vocals and a memorable guitar solo. Though 'Association' is less energetic and leans towards new wave, the EP remains a high-quality release from a forgotten band.
