This time, Mr. Rudy Ratzinger seemed deflated and dull to me. And for someone who has so far made the devastating electronic force his reason for being and for spreading the word of the most feral, fierce, and proud EBM, I think it means that something is starting to not run smoothly in the engine of what was the infernal machine, not Christine, but :Wumpscut:.
Perhaps the desire to try to step out of certain patterns, which have always characterized him and made him an absolute protagonist of the scene, played against him. Through albums that we could never forget and that, in fact, pointed a safe path for a significant number of other bands, even if his style has never been equaled. However, in all this, in a clear underlying repetitiveness, in reiterating raw beats, gothic/futuristic arrangements, and chilling and dark atmospheres, almost like "Hostel" (if you'll pardon the cinematic parallelism), there was also the most intrinsic secret of his being a wild studio animal (being notoriously unavailable for live performances).
Instead, "Body Census" is there trying not to be too violent and pounding, to reiterate certain concepts, but almost trying to mask them, as if the weight of the past had excessively burdened him at the time of creating the album. And such past ended up crushing and rendering him harmless, precisely :Wumpscut:, who made the frontal and unstoppable (to the point of exhaustion) sonic attack the pure essence of the sound.
