Wulf Dorn is an author who has truly amazed me. His thrillers always dance on the edge of terror. It was a fortuitous purchase. I had read the plot of his second novel and it intrigued me. After reading 'The Survivor,' I went to buy all his works.
All beautiful books that leave the reader breathless, up to the very last page. You know a modern-day King with the imagination of the past? Yes? Let me introduce you to Wulf Dorn!!!
Now, I have ventured into the 2017 novel 'The Heirs.'
A man ventures into the downpour with his Mercedes, to reach his ex-wife, in the mountains. The reason is unclear, but his race between switchbacks and heavy rain seems desperate. On a hairpin bend, he nearly crashes head-on with a car completely destroyed by a probable accident. He gets out to give first aid, notifying 911. Inside the vehicle is a dying person he recognizes. It's his sister-in-law. To secure the area, he takes the triangle from his car and places it facing downhill. He tries to do the same with the triangle from his sister-in-law's car, but the trunk is jammed. With the help of the jack, he somehow manages to open it, but a stench of rot and excrement immobilizes him. He finds the corpse of his daughter with half of her brain crushed.
We are on page 20 of the novel. I read a couple of more pages and discover that in the town from which the car originates, a whopping 164 people have disappeared, that is, all of them. What the hell is happening?
I stopped to write the review. Excuse me, but now I want to understand how it goes on.
Do not disturb me for the next 3 days.....
