It may be a kind of compilation, but on this record, there are 4 of the most beautiful pieces from his entire production. La città vecchia, La Ballata dell'amore Cieco, Le Passanti, and La Canzone dell'amore Perduto. Then there's Morire per delle Idee, which is fantastic as well. Okay, this one and Le Passanti are by Brassens, but we can only thank Fabrizio for having covered them in Italian, and masterfully, I would say. Via della Povertà, on the other hand, and I've already mentioned this in another review, is one of the few songs by FDA that I don't listen to when I play the record; I start from the second track, I can't stand it.
The most transitional album of the Faber saga. A few new ideas, not always spot on, some brilliant covers, I would dare to say intelligent reworkings from the '60s... An album I’ve somewhat rediscovered that remains, I repeat, with few ideas and meager stimuli, but when all is said and done, it’s still Faber. 3.5 with honors.

I give you a high and strong five instead when you point to songs as the spiritual sequel to volume 3. And volume three was better, but okay, we’re just trying to figure out if it’s better to buy a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. Uh, I forgot one important thing: as a kid, "Fila la lana" was my absolute favorite song. It still gives me goosebumps thirty years later, but I think it’s just the memories and the heart. Beautiful album, but for me not among his absolute masterpieces. Obviously, the interpretations of the classics by master Cohen are very beautiful, and "La Canzone dell'amore perduto" is immense. 4.5 rounded down.
In my opinion, the real weak point is precisely "Via della povertà." Not because it doesn’t reach the original (in what sense was it supposed to reach it, anyway? In fact, it’s almost a literal translation, the only change in the music is the key), but because when you listen to it, you realize - at least, that’s always been my feeling - that it doesn’t belong to him. In other words, it’s the worst shortcoming for a cover. “Avventura a Durango” is a different story; there the operation succeeds perfectly - because the idea of giving it that """Neapolitanizing""" touch is genius, and it fits naturally into the sound of 'Rimini,' just as the original could only belong on 'Desire' and on no other Dylan album. As far as I’m concerned, it's also one of the few flaws of an album that is (also) made up of masterpieces, but for some reason, it’s the De Andre work I’ve always listened to the least.
