So far, I’ve only listened to the single PHUK, which hasn't made me shout with joy. However, I already have my ticket for the concert in England. We'll see.
I'm listening to it right now. One: I don't like the sounds in the middle of the album, if not more. And I have to say that Orbital, even though it's not as inspired as in the old days and the album is soaked in the stench of money-making crap, does its damn job with class. The title track is somewhat reminiscent of "Infected" from "Bp Empire," and it holds up pretty well, although it’s not at that level: in the second part, it unleashes a very singable theme (perhaps too much) and then ruins everything at the end with a sound straight out of the lowest category of house music. "The End Is Nigh" sounds like a mix between Skrillex and Avicii: truly atrocious sounds and a very Skrillex-like voice transformation (HORROR!). Perhaps the worst track. "Hoo Hoo Ha Ha" starts off promising: it seems like it's coming from an old album, until the sax melody kicks in that sounds like it’s from "Destination Calabria." "To Dream Again" and "Fun With The System" are better; especially the latter has a nice synth loop, and some minimal sounds reminded me of the good old Mum. "Kaiju" is a bit tacky in its sound choices. For me, the best tracks remain "Dressing Up In Other People’s Clothes" and especially "There Will Come A Time." At this point, better to stick with Underworld and William; they keep doing the same things, but at least they manage to pull out a good track per album.
Look, it's Orbital! For a synth enthusiast like me, it's like inviting a goose for a drink: I listen right away. Back in the day, I listened to quite a bit of Snivilisation and In Sides...
