THE REVIEW

Another new band venturing into the world of black metal. It seems like the new trend in metal now is black. They are with Einheit, the RoadRunner Records of black metal, already the producer of Ulvhedin and Black Messiah.

Wrath plays simple black metal, with good production, but there is a problem; it sounds like any Dark Funeral CD. Maybe the only difference is the voice, which resembles that of Maniac, former vocalist of the great Mayhem. "Viking", that's the title of the CD, is not convincing at all and the sound is completely copied. Perhaps the best song is the one that gives the title to the CD.

Anyway, give them another chance, you never know. Even though a light listening is recommended.

Summary by Bot

Wrath's album Viking delivers straightforward black metal with good production but suffers from a lack of originality, heavily resembling Dark Funeral. The vocals echo Maniac of Mayhem, adding some distinction. While the title track stands out slightly, the album overall fails to leave a strong impression. A light listen is suggested with cautious optimism for future releases.

Wrath

A black metal band; the DeBaser review of Viking (2005) praises production but criticizes the album for sounding like Dark Funeral and notes vocals reminiscent of Maniac (ex-Mayhem).
