The room is completely dark, devoid of any light, the sky outside is stormy; I am lying on my bed and the room's stereo is ready to make me dream again. This is how the CD in question expresses itself best. Once again Iceland and unsurprisingly, once again a great band.
Inspired by the heterogeneous landscape of their country, Worm Is Green produces a sound endowed with remarkable evocative power: a refined and exquisitely tasteful electro-ambient music. They have control over instruments (and the use of the computer) and very clear ideas, but they are not the new Sigur Rós: here a woman sings, and in English.
Electronic drums, keyboards, and various effects always remain prominent to illuminate infinite atmospheres and spaces.
"Undercover" is tender, it almost makes me daydream; small pop spices emerge in "Shine" where the combination of male-female voice is increasingly overshadowed by the relentless outburst of drum machines. "Outline" is melancholic, sad, suffocated; the voice is plaintive. Magical. "Amazing Things" leaves us suspended in the air...
Thirteen tracks, each more beautiful than the last and, as usual, the cover says it all by itself. You will like them, you will see, because they have style.
Ah, I almost forgot: the third track is a modern cover of Joy Division, a certain "Love Will Tear Us Apart", do you know it?
