I have been following Wolfmother since the beginning and I bought the self-titled album shortly after its release, surprised and satisfied by their ability to somewhat appease the melancholy towards a past that is increasingly distant and mythical. The choice to review this particular single gravitates specifically around the perfect blend of the two songs that I consider the most representative of the LP, with a completely new and very interesting piece.

The CD opens with the thoughtful "Mind's Eye", a perfect fusion of the various influences of rock archetypes. The clear and clean sound of the organ introduces the thoughtful melody of the guitar which, together with Stockdale's sharp voice, transports the listener to an epic dimension of yesteryear. The riffs that follow only amplify the piece's solemnity in a sort of ascending climax culminating with the keyboard solo, which leads to the conclusion of the track. Next comes the frequently-heard "Woman". Not much to say, an enticing and sharp riff coordinated with the usual incredible voice, a perfect amalgamation between the unleashed overdrive of the guitar and the harmoniousness of multi-instrumentalist Ross's organ. To conclude the work, there is the long-awaited "Earth's Rotation Around The Sun", bonus track of the EP. The piece is an open ode to Floyd, rhythms and effects are a clear banner of Barrettian psychedelic rock, as are the abrupt changes in rhythm. To this rarefied and foggy atmosphere suddenly joins, like a flash, a guitar riff of the same nature as those of other 'Mother tracks like "Dimension" or "Colossal".

The result is an incredibly pleasant sensation of harmonic discordance.

Tracklist and Lyrics

01   Mind's Eye (00:00)

When the time is right and the night is bright
We will see the things we've come to find
I've been searching for just a little more
but the days girl just slip away
And the red sunset that we just met
I can see forever

Come and see the mind's eye
We can find it if we try
Come and see the mind's eye
Transfixed upon the why
Come and see the mind's eye
We can find it if we try

Well they say it's right if it feels alright
When your love burns up in the mire
So I burnt a fire for a lost desire
See it burning higher

Come and see the mind's eye
We can find it if we try
Come and see the mind's eye
Transfixed upon the why
Come and see the mind's eye
We can find it if we try

Come and see the mind's eye
We can find it if we try
Come and see the mind's eye
Transfixed upon the why

The mind's eye
Right now

Come and see the mind's eye
We can find it if we try
Come and see the mind's eye
We can find it if we try
