THE REVIEW

Debut mini album for the Norwegians Winds. Dedicated to a progressive metal with neoclassical shades; the group is formed by four well-known faces in the metal music scene: Lars Eric Si (Vocals and Bass), Hellhammer (Drums), Andy Winter (Keyboard) and Carl Tidemann (Guitar).

The first work, dated 2001, consists of a simple yet effective record of only 5 tracks. The songs are all excellently executed, the sound of the string instruments is captivating despite the genre not being the most aggressive, the technique is the stunning one of progressive with really beautiful passages that recall the neoclassical soul of the group. It is all perfectly supported by the keyboard, always capable of creating beautiful atmospheres, both with simple and more intricate passages, with an Andy Winter who is truly in top form, while Hellhammer behind the drums is obviously always the author of a high-level performance; able both to keep tighter tempos, even though the accelerations are not many, and to have a pleasant and quite imaginative drumming in the slower segments. There are no tracks that stand out over the others for beauty or technical skill (always high in every single track), all episodes blend perfectly. The listener is left with no choice but to take the headphones and dive into 21 minutes of good music.

Although the album is very short, Winds already do a really good job with their debut, a record for music lovers, recommended to listeners of all genres.
