The Wimeke, formed from the ashes of Lova (one of the most underrated underground bands on the Italian scene), present themselves with a debut EP short but dazzling.

Seven tracks condensed into 15 minutes of punk played at 200 km/h, suspended somewhere between the lyricism of Dinosaur Jr and the generational angst of Nirvana.

The opening entrusted to the incredible "la scimmia sulla schiena" or the closing track "niente da perdere", speak a straightforward language devoid of allegories and metaphors that seem to please the gurus of our local rock scene but still possess a lucid and uncontaminated poetic force that harks back to a hypothetical Carver songwriter. The Wimeke free the mind and make the legs move, as a good rock'n'roll record should.

So, the novelty, the trendy sound probably resides elsewhere but no one could ever blame them if after two listens you find yourself humming these crooked, barely sketched melodies that seduce you with the force of a punch in the stomach instead of with sweet words whispered in the ear.
