Alright, I get it. What is that (CENSURALOWBUDGET) Peyote doing on Debaser? What does he have to do with Jannacci, Fabi and the whole singer-songwriter group? I'd say very little, very little indeed.

I'll be blunt: I listened to the album, I liked the album, I'm writing about the album, plain and simple. The rest doesn't matter.

"Peyote451" is a perfect introduction to the whole album: Willie distances himself, proclaims to be the exception and not to compete with others in the music scene. It couldn't be more precise, and the rest won't be any less. "Che bella giornata" and "C'era una vodka" are very similar tracks: musically because they are between rap and funk (let's throw in jazz, why not...) and textually talk about Willie himself (about his work in the former, his alcoholism problem in the latter), and they are among the best on the album. The following three tracks continue on a lesser path: "La scelta sbagliata", amusing but that's it, "Interludio" which is a big mess of three minutes and "L'outfit giusto", which lacks an effective text. Fortunately, they are just exceptions in the exception: it goes as far as possible with the brilliant "Willie Pooh", the dark "Etichette", the dreamlike "Giudizio sommario" and "Io non sono razzista ma...", the best track of the whole album. After the skit of "Vecchio ho fatto un sogno" comes "La dittatura dei non-fumatori", which seems to have been written today with all that's happening with Greta Thunberg and the other ecological matters. And then you are left stunned to find out only three tracks are left: "Nessuno è il mio signore" is one of the most sensational tracks on the album where religion is targeted, "Truman show" is dreamy and poetic, and finally "E allora ciao" which is a bit disappointing but a worthy conclusion.

The album is beautiful, it is enriched by arrangements that go well beyond rap and texts that go like engines, all enriched by calls with his father that give a more human touch to the album. In short, listen to it even if you don't listen to much rap, I tell you, you will be satisfied.
