William Monahan is an American screenwriter and film director. He won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Departed (2007), wrote screenplays for Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven and Body of Lies, and directed London Boulevard, an adaptation of Ken Bruen's novel.
