LA RECENSIONE

The Who Made Who have very little to do with the AC/DC album, but these three Danish guys have something good to offer.

If one were to define the genre of this album, the best word would be Dance, if it didn't imply dangerous associations with the terrible music of the '90s. Because Who Made Who draw inspiration from the best of the '80s, yet they don't provoke that silly grin we all get when we listen to those old tracks full of synths and syrupy vocals.

The album makes you want to dance from start to finish, with the exception of two tracks. The bass in all its forms is the absolute protagonist. It starts with "Rose", a bass riff that's made for dancing, accompanied only by drums and some percussion. In "Space For Rent", the atmosphere becomes more somber, and despite the falsettos, the track is wonderful. Worth mentioning is "Hello, Empty Room", a piece where the progression of the music, the intonation, and the melody of the voice magically bring the ghost of the Doors back to the dancefloor (it seems incredible, listen to believe), only to give way to a chorus with a superb Depeche Mode-like bassline.
The album flies by with pleasure, and as a final gem, Who Made Who manage the remarkable feat of making Benassi's "Satisfaction" not just listenable but incredibly cool—in one of the few covers in the world that improves on the original piece (it didn't take much, you'll say...). Like Soulwax, but following a more '80s trend, Who Made Who produce an innovative album of electronic music that returns to the origins of modern music, with bass and drums played live. Ultimately, it's an album that can make anyone dance; it's sexy music but also technically impeccable.

If you're organizing a house party, pop it into the player and target the first person who catches your eye. It will be a success.
