THE REVIEW

Records of 2015 Part 6:

Natural Phenomena is shoegaze but it's not, it's dream pop but it's not, it's ambient but it's not, it's post rock but it's not! Probably by listening to it we will understand less than before, but the fact remains that it lives on hypnagogia, distant memories, abstract memories, distorted memories that are never eliminated. Synthesizers immersed in cosmic noise. Oh, you want similarities? The atmospheres of Pygmalion by Slowdive, certain phrasings and stasis of the first Durutti Column. An underrated album or rather, too hidden. Recommended songs: Confusion, Mermaids

Natural Phenomena by White Poppy is a unique blend of shoegaze, dream pop, ambient, and post rock that defies easy categorization. The album creates hypnotic atmospheres reminiscent of Slowdive's Pygmalion and early Durutti Column. It thrives on distorted and distant memories through cosmic synth layers. This underrated and hidden gem features standout tracks like 'Confusion' and 'Mermaids.' Highly recommended for fans of immersive, atmospheric music.
