Wesley Earl Craven (1939–2015) was an American film director, screenwriter, and producer, best known for landmark horror films including The Last House on the Left, A Nightmare On Elm Street and Scream.

Creator/director associated with the Freddy Krueger character and A Nightmare On Elm Street (released by New Line in 1984, featuring a very young Johnny Depp). Born January 2, 1939; died August 30, 2015.
