Vordven formed in 1996 in Huittinen, Finland. They produced a 1997 demo, an EP (Woodland Passage) and a full-length; an anthology issued by No Colours Records collected most of their material.

According to DeBaser's review: formed in 1996 in Huittinen; first demo 'When The Wind Blew The First Time' (1997); full-length (referred to in reviews as 'Towards The Frozen...') later received support from No Colours Records; EP 'Woodland Passage' presents a melodic, keyboard-driven, Tolkien-like 'twilight' black metal. The review specifically credits keyboards by Matti Kaasalainen and mentions a No Colours anthology titled 'Vordven' (also known as 'History') that compiles the full-length, part of the EP and the 1996 demo.

Vordven is an obscure Finnish black metal group formed in 1996, noted for a melodic, keyboard-forward "twilight" sound. The Woodland Passage EP and the full-length material (collected on a No Colours Records anthology) emphasize fairy-tale, Tolkien-like themes rather than sheer extremity. Reviews praise arrangements, keyboards and melodic detail, rating the material as beautiful and mature.

For:Fans of melodic/symphonic black metal, early Dimmu Borgir listeners, collectors of obscure Finnish metal.

The Vordven are the white fly of Finnish Black Metal: in a scene dominated by the roughness of Horna and Behexen, the extremism of Satanic Warmaster, the darkness of Calvarium and Sargeist, a proposal like Vordven's could not have had much success.
