Perhaps not everyone remembers the pianist who, in the bar below Fish's office, sang songs every evening that, in one way or another, connected to the bizarre misadventures of the lawyer Ally McBeal. Vonda has signed a contract to collect all the songs she sang during the episodes into three CDs. Songs From Ally McBeal is the first one released in '98 and is a collection of her songs or covers reinterpreted by her with her lovely but above all unique voice; unfortunately, I don't consider her voice to be very beautiful or excellent. These songs remain full of feelings and emotions, perhaps these feelings are stirred in me by the memory of that TV show (which in my opinion is fantastic), but I've had this CD for more than four years and I still haven't gotten tired of it.
It contains beautiful songs like You Belong To Me, then Searchin' My Soul, more commonly known as the opening theme of Ally McBeal, the very lively Will You Marry Me?, the very romantic The Wildest Times Of The World, and the melancholic Maryland (which remains my favorite on this CD).
Relaxing melodies that we can easily associate with our important events due to the wide variety of lyrics but above all for the sweet harmony that surrounds the listener enjoying the sweet sound of Shepard's voice and the simplicity of the music.
Overall, a decent CD with some banal songs and the risk of becoming tiresome in the long run.
