I believe that anyone who has found themselves in the circumstances of lending an ear to listening (however chronologically limited) to Vomitory, has internally questioned what their usefulness is in the musical landscape.
I'm here to give you the answer. Vomitory was born in Sweden in the early '90s, initially as a Thrash Metal band. Starting from their second work, however, they dedicated themselves to Death with a clearly European imprint but with strong old-school American Death undertones. To give you some reference bands, I could mention Vader, Entombed, and (why not) Celtic Frost regarding the European scene, and Malevolent Creation, early Deicide, and early Morbid Angel for the American one.
It is not up to me to specify that pillaging the sound of these groups, already used and abused by many others, moreover ten years after the debut of these sacred monsters, is not the most desirable stylistic choice for a band. The nine songs that make up this album are characterized by strong references (to not call it imitation) to the aforementioned groups: the guitarists do a reasonably precise job, but of such banality that it will not satisfy any listener worthy of the name. The riffing is indeed powerful, but already heard a thousand other times, in a thousand other works by a thousand other bands with a thousand more ideas and a thousand years ago; obvious powerful chords (with the typical Entombed-like distortion, those who know them will get an idea), fast and sharp that no longer move anything and bland solos. The drummer doesn't invent anything new and, with his very fast but completely unimaginative rhythms, certainly doesn't stand out among the great drummers of this musical genre. The bassist (although I suspect we wouldn't miss anything) is buried by the other instruments, and there isn’t a single passage where his faint, rounded sound is heard; shyness? No, a geriatrics-like production, not dirty enough to give a dark aura, but enough to turn the various sounds into a shapeless jam. The voice adds nothing to what was said before, so you will understand it is a very predictable growl and anything but exceptional.
The songwriting, due to the group's not outstanding compositional skills, is ultimately unconvincing and not at all exhaustive. I would prefer not to talk about the atmosphere recreated by these songs, but I fear for our Vomitory that a few words will have to be said (also for fairness towards potential buyers): the mood of this album is entirely similar to a lunar landscape, meaning desolate and desolating.
The listening brings no emotion and leaves the unfortunate listener with a sense of incompleteness and indifference, unfortunately common to numerous works of this musical genre. The same goes for the lyrics, of such nonsense and conventionality that it makes the arms fall, but I believe this can already be deduced from the title of this LP. However, I would like to point out that the frontier of modern Death metal is not Vomitory and that in the Underground there are, although not numerous, much more valid and interesting bands, better from a technical, compositional, and communicative point of view. "Blood Rapture" is an album that hovers around quite low standards for one of the many mediocre and irrelevant bands crowding the Death Metal scene. Therefore, I urge not to give weight to this neglectable, monotonous and boring release.
The answer to the initial question is: nothing.

01 Chaos Fury (03:13)
Music: T Gustafsson, Dalegren
Lyrics: Rundqvist
Insane, chaos of death
Invasions, fury against fury
Landmasses explode
Change owners day by day
Global participation
Global extermination
An extinction that can't be avoided
Will against will
Population increases
Over all boundaries
War the only solution
To keep humanity
Nuclear winter waits
Those few who survived
Trapped by human madness
Deep in cover underground
Resources end is near
Water undrinkable poison
A planet screaming for mercy
Universal butchery
Population increases
Over all boundaries
War the only solution
To keep humanity
