Octopus is an album that comes from the past, but sounds very modern and current.

The analog sound of synths and refined effects gives the warmth and depth of vintage,

mixing rock, psychedelia, Latin rock, and blues

into engaging, original, and modern atmospheres, conceived with electronics in mind, the Spain of Almodovar (from which the band's name, Volvér), the dunes of Tarifa, just steps from Africa.

OCTOPUS

Volvér was born in March 2015, driven by Max's desire to bring together a rock band but with different influences; blues, psychedelia, electronics, Latin rock. The tracks were already written by Max in a more blues form and were completed and arranged with the essential contribution of the band. However, all this is revised and corrected and becomes something new, something current. It couldn't have been otherwise. This is hinted by the band's name itself, volvér, which in Spanish means to return, to go back, to transform. Octopus starts from the past, travels back in time, but then contextualizes what it has taken in the "here and now". So Mod-Vintage - that is, modern-vintage or even vintage-modified.

And more. Because volvér is also the title of a film by Almodovar. And here emerges the band's other passion, that for cinema. And cinematic, especially in the use of keyboards (a '70s Korg Delta synth and effect-laden electric pianos). Cinema leads them to use, as the first introduction video for the album, clips from "Nosferatu the Vampire," a 1922 silent film (https://www.facebook.com/massimiliano.e.vita/videos/10207976161190990/?theater).

"Octopus" is 8, which then is the symbol of infinity, and there are 8 tracks on the album. (Tarifa is a ghost track!).

8 are the days it took the band to record the album. A flash of time... Almost like a live take.

The album was recorded digitally but with extreme attention and research for sounds, experimenting with effects in a completely analog and manual way to achieve a totally "new" sound... today.

"Octopus" was recorded by Tancredi Barbuscia at Green River studio in Cavaria, taking advantage of the splendid space of the old theater for ambient recordings.

The octopus on the cover of "Octopus" was created by graphic designer Gianfranco Enrietto HEN, author of the comic “From Bovisa to Brooklyn” for Calibro 35, character designer of the Gormiti toy line.
