THE REVIEW

Volcano Heat "You Are Right!" (2010)

Captured in more than direct take during quick soundchecks and concerts in the 2009-10 season, the tracks that make up Volcano Heat "You Are Right!" are surprising for their intensity and fury. The sound is loaded and quickly takes off with the distortions of Luca Picchetti's Gibson 335, while the bass and drums push each track to the limit, pulling back just before the last bend.

Tested, aware of their own strength, Volcano Heat are at their best when they are left free, and this collection proves it: they do not fear mistakes and never worry too much, they go off-key, roll, distort the bass, and joke around the final harmonies of the Beatlesque "Mean Mr. Mustard" giving us a truly convincing performance. If "Leap into the void", "People" and the dynamic "Suicide" are the gems of a raw and heavy album, it's the dark "I remember you" that best represents the essence of the Venetian band: direct take, no filter, and a solo that would have made Johnny Thunders happy, this is punk rock!
