Vinz Aquarian is a character now quite well-known in the dark music scene due to projects like Calle Della Morte and Ballo Delle Castagne. But we certainly shouldn't forget his work with his label SPQR, through which he has helped release names such as Egida Aurea, Recondita Stirpe, Hautville, The Green Man, Mushroom’s Patience, the same Calle Della Morte and Ballo Delle Castagne in addition to critical reissues of Ain Soph and Der Feuerkreiner. Now, following the 2015 EP Diavoleide, a new vinyl single titled The Third Man is being released, containing 3 tracks in a strictly limited edition of only 33 copies, destined to sell out very quickly. We are thus faced with a niche product reserved for a few enthusiasts. On this occasion Vinz Aquarian – who, besides singing, also plays the moog and the synth – is accompanied by the brilliant Dither Craf from Mushroom’s Patience on acoustic and electric guitar. The first track “Are You A Stranger?” is an intense and dark gem of deviant acid-folk that might remind one of Nick Cave. The next track “Zentralfriedhof” is very gothic and decadent: the Zentralfriedhof is, in fact, the cemetery of Vienna: the atmospheres created by the keyboards are macabre and mystical and serve as the perfect soundtrack for an expressionist film. With “We Couldn’t Be More Alone” the atmospheres remain suspended in a twilight end-of-the-world limbo. The Third Man is a small timeless gem that confirms Vinz Aquarian's talent. At this point, we await a long-play release from Vinz Aquarian. Available on Bandcamp: https://vinzaquarian.bandcamp.com/album/the-third-man.
