I awaited with anticipation the release of Vincenzo Fasano's album. Already in November '09, I spoke about it with a certain enthusiasm, enthusiasm that now seems to have spread even among industry professionals. They call him the "next screaming thing," but I prefer to define him as a talented singer-songwriter with a finally interesting and (thank goodness) in-tune voice.
Among disrespectful screamers of the instrument and bland singer-songwriters with delusions of grandeur, Vincenzo Fasano has the merit of standing out for a certain underlying honesty that emerges in sparse threads in the songs of "La sindrome di stoccolma." Voice, guitar, and a few musician friends to add color (Riccardo Sinigallia, Dino Fumaretto) pleasantly accompany us through the 5 tracks of this album preview. The songs flow red and rich through nocturnal tangos of "Se fossi in me" and "Non ritiro quel che ho detto" and sublime and sullen ballads "Mal d'africa".
And a title like "La sindrome di stoccolma" aptly describes the kind of captivation that generates dependency. In this Italian music, always too mistreated, there is a voice that stands out from the crowd and has managed to capture my attention.
Good luck Vincenzo!
p.s. The EP is available for full listening on Rockit.it. It is recommended to listen at extravagant volumes.
