Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter known for expressive brushwork and vivid color.

Van Gogh wrote hundreds of letters, many to his brother Theo. He is known for works such as The Starry Night, Sunflowers and Wheatfield with Crows. He suffered mental health problems and died in 1890 in Auvers-sur-Oise.
