Recording of music for film

Like the sound of an old door creaking, like the chatter heard through the wall of an uninhabited building, like the muted echo of something happening far from you, like the rustling in front of the mirror on a September morning, like the noise of the coffee pot at dawn, like the melody of an out-of-tune piano playing in a room that is not yours.

The analogies elicited by listening to this first work of Mr. Gallo, actor, singer, director, and now musician, are many and all valid. This "Recordings of music for film" (already from 2002), gives a sense of constant disorientation that takes you by the hand and never lets go.
These small watercolors made of a few notes seem like real films without images, occasionally stained by dissonances and reverberations that give a sinister and melancholic flavor to these 29 "unfinished" tracks escaping from everything. 29 tracks each lasting 1 or 2 minutes (some only last a few seconds), almost wanting to hide and flee from any classification and self-satisfaction.
When the song (?) manages to draw you into its film, when you feel you have grasped its meaning, when the picture begins to take shape, that's precisely when the film/track changes face, transforming into something else, maybe a new film or another story. It is this very sense of bewilderment, without points of support (the missing images?), this continuous emptiness to lose that gives the album an "on the road" and intimate flavor, declaring its greatness and its limit at the same time.
What Vincent wants to escape from is not given to us to understand. It remains, in my opinion, a little magic for an absolutely unclassifiable record, outside any scheme.

Absolutely to be avoided if one is necessarily looking for meaning, a melody, a chorus, or even just a bit of warmth and sunshine... for everyone else, it is "a must"!
