"Queen of Golden Dogs" is an album that captivated me from the very first listen. Just the first two tracks, "Fantasma" and "Good animal", were enough to transport me to other dimensions. Sounds that are nothing short of amazing, atmospheres that I have rarely found in similar works.
I believe it is Vessel's most ambitious project to date, defying easy categorization. The sound is a unique blend of electronic rhythms, chamber music, and Baroque and Arabic influences that create a rich and complex soundscape.
The production is meticulous, with each track carefully crafted to create a sense of tension and release. The use of strings, harpsichords, and even ethnic instruments adds depth and texture to the electronic parts.
However, the experimental nature of the album is not for all tastes. I think a certain cultural preparation is necessary, beyond innate musical sensitivity. Nevertheless, I find it a wonderful album, enjoyable from start to finish.
I also point out the tracks "Arcanum" and "Glory Glory".
Each track, in addition to the title, also has a dedication to a female name.
The cover initially left me perplexed; I didn't find it aligned with the music it contains. Then, little by little, I grasped it. And when I listen to certain tracks while observing that illustration, the profound sense of fascination evoked by the sounds is further amplified.
Overall, "Queen of Golden Dogs" is a highly rewarding listen. I recommend it even to those not accustomed to instrumental music that mixes multiple genres and traditions.
