Eleven non-essential points to write a review in eleven minutes:
- Veronica Marchi, a singer-songwriter from Veneto, has two albums to her name. And not two mediocre or indifferent albums, but two secretly wonderful albums.
- Like the second album of the Venetian singer-songwriter, "L'acqua del mare non si può bere", on which I would like to draw your attention, reader.
- There will be some curious users who, having never heard Marchi’s name, will at least try to read something about her, or, even better, listen to some tracks of hers.
- In Italy, it's not only Consoli (recently poor) when it comes to female singer-songwriters. Enough! Something latent (but perhaps, for this very reason, more precious) is there.
- "Five more minutes" or so remain until the end of the text.
- Tracks like "Resisti" (Resisti / hold me, airplane / little one in flight / in your hand / like survivors / like the last of the last) or "Dillo Piano", although colored by a pronounced sweet tone in the lyrics, really deserve a lot.
- Played as it should be, the album is musically rich in acoustic, warm, and often very delicate atmospheres. We are in full Spring.
- Seeing the tracks from "L'acqua del mare non si può bere" live with the singer-songwriter makes one understand how much goodness there is in Marchi’s harmonies. Especially in duos, where with voice, guitar, and string executions, the songs perhaps take on their real dimension: minimalist and sensually intimate.
- Because Marchi writes (and not just lyrics) very well. I recommend her blog to everyone: Nerosubianco.
- Like the vote to give to Marchi and hundreds of other artists who, like her, despite the evident difficulties of the Italian music scene, try to raise high Art, the good kind, made in Italy. Even with little money. Even with little fame. Even with a maximum of a hundred people at live shows.
- Why waste money at Christmas on albums that only clutter shelves? Let’s purchase albums like those by Marchi, because, in the end, we’ll do two good things: we’ll buy a great album for ourselves, and we’ll also give a small contribution to this underground way of making music. The other way.
The other World.
