An "abnormal angel," suicidal and melancholic, introduces us to the residence of the Italian rock'n'roll samurai. Frankly, nothing to do with the new(York) rock wave. Verdena march to their own beat, maintaining their evident (but not so blatant) influences and constantly working on contrasts of melody and brilliant electric sprints.

We can dance around it as much as we like, but there's no escape from rock'n'roll.
It's not a problem. Rather, what matters is that the single paving the way for the possible content of the long-playing album, due at the end of the month, is a kind of inversion to the liquid expanses of "Solo un grande sasso." In "Luna," breaths of sound poetry, fragile but uncontrollable, travel along a neglected path in the echoes of so-called alternative '90s.
The play of influences works, provided they are shaped and composed into their own craft, like tempered clay.

The wild serenity of "Harvest" by the good Neil Young often (perhaps too often) breaks the anxious tensions of Verdena's acoustics. But it's just a moment. "Le tue ossa nell'altitudine" is already there attacking your most fragile affections. Disorients and wobbles in waters (at times) not very reassuring that do not welcome too much meditation before a boisterous storm arrives.
"Apice" is the fun of disturbing backgrounds in a tiny and marvelous crystalline melody that hardly withstands an impact, this time unexpected. The intermittent drums convey the idea of the anxiety-inducing (in a good sense) issue described, less hermetically than in the past, in the text.
The setup is sealed by the acidic and (all things considered) fun experiment of "Omashee" which steps away quite a bit from Verdena's usual sonic standard.
"The sense of urgency" often remains the surplus of the (with the addition of new member Fidel on Rhodes and mellotron) four. The flip side of the coin lies perhaps in the fact that they need to work on something that might hold up more over time.

I don't think they have anything else planned, so... the patients will wait.

Tracklist Lyrics and Videos

01   Luna (03:35)

Dipingimi distorto come un angelo anormale che cade
Offendimi, se odiare è un crimine il prezzo è uguale e fa male
E vedo te, io e te, niente conta in fondo
Illumina annulla le paure oh luna nulla è uguale
Sarò così onesto come se tu fossi il mare, il mare
E vedo te, io e te, niente conta e crolla, crolla
E vedo te, io e te, niente conta in fondo.

02   Harvest (03:11)

03   Le tue ossa nell'altitudine (05:05)

04   Apice (05:00)

05   Omashee (03:14)
