THE REVIEW

Venom is one of the greatest metal bands that ever existed. The trio, formed by Cronos (Bass and Vocals), Mantas (Guitar), and Abbadon (Drums), released their third album "At War With Satan" in 1983, after the success of their first two albums ("Welcome To Hell" and "Black Metal"). While the third album doesn't achieve the same level of success as the first two, it remains a very interesting listen.

Putting aside the satanism and other things, this album features some very interesting tracks: "At War With Satan" is a masterpiece of malice, almost 20 minutes of song without any waste of time or other distractions. In my opinion, the other interesting songs on the album are "Aaaaargghh" and "Genocide", while the other tracks don't present anything new.

Venom would begin their slow and inexorable decline after the release of this album, but they had completed their mission: to give birth to and develop Black Metal. I don't find this album boring, quite the opposite. It's not of the same caliber as the first two CDs but still a good piece of work...

Venom's third album At War With Satan, released in 1983, continues their pioneering black metal legacy. Though not as impactful as their first two albums, it features notable tracks like the nearly 20-minute title song, Aaaaargghh, and Genocide. The album marks a transition point before the band's eventual decline but remains an engaging and important metal release.

Venom have the privilege and merit of having marked an entire genre, a stylistic current, with the title of their album, ("Black Metal").

The opener is the very long and devastating title track, with its twenty minutes of pure evil... Truly a great track, which alone is worth the purchase of the album!
