Our friend Venetian Snares (aka Aaron Funk), also known as the greatest hater of Winnipeg, Canada.
An entire album "tribute" to his native city, probably a relatively boring place subject to unfavorable weather conditions.
The first thing you can notice is the provocative nature of the titles, very colorful (go read them).
It's not the classic Vsnares album: obviously you can't miss the aggressive speed and the "fist in your face" beats, but there's also a tremendous amount of samples concerning the Manitoba city that are particularly irreverent and disdainful, coming from the mouths of famous natives (such as Crash Test Dummies, directors, and news presenters); the sound that persists throughout the album is extraordinarily Gabber, among distorted basses and classic irregular tempos.
To highlight is the track "Winnipeg Is Steven Stapleton's Armpit" (meaning "Winnipeg is Steven Stapleton's armpit"), with a particular mention for the mastermind of the project Nurse With Wound, not only in the title but also in the style present in the track: very little Electronics, a lot of Minimalism, slightly hinting at the sound of Stapleton's early works, building on a sample of the word "Winnipeg" alone, distorting and shaping it like Play-Doh.
On the cover, the hand grenade: an object of desire for many inhabitants.
