"everything has already been said, the important thing is to identify who said it better" the "life" philosophy of Vedova.

With this mini-cd I close the cycle of Italian underground metal with Vedova, initially born with the intention of playing a doom black metal with jazz influences, they still play band funeral doom metal (defined as "damn monolithic doom metal" by the band) with influences from Cathedral, Dying Bride, Anathema, and early Katatonia, the vocals are in growl. This mini-cd is dedicated to Giacomo Leopardi, called by the group the "great doomster from Marche", and is therefore a concept album centered on his depressed poetics and is aptly named "Remembrances" (Ricordanze). The next mini-cd (still in recording) is dedicated to Edgar Allan Poe.

The mini-cd opens with the instrumental REMEMBRANCES PART 1 (Ricordanze part 1), it is a terrifying start with a background that would fit perfectly in films like Shining or Nosferatu. The mini-cd really begins with TO THE MOON (Alla Luna), it is a very slow and very rotten doom with riffs that almost seem like matches in darkness, the singer's cavernous and equally slow growl accompanies us like a lantern in a dark cemetery road at night....

The third track THE INFINITE (Infinito) immediately starts with a riff that almost makes you think of Dracula's funeral soundtrack, here the growl is a bit faster but maintains its exasperating slowness. A solo towards the end gives a lot of pathos (and depression) to the song. The third, instrumental REMBRANCES PART 2 (Ricordanze part 2), almost recalls a puppet dance in a dark and dusty room... The "sweet" music becomes increasingly gloomy leading us to the fifth track.

TO HIMSELF (A se stesso), the fifth track is a bit more "fast" but still very pachyderm-like (as doom metal should be after all), the singer's growl here is "destructive" in its slowness, almost like a person suffering because they know death is near, the bass almost transforms into a xylophone and its sound leads us to the singer's growl, very destructive and violent in the second part of the song. The sixth track, the instrumental REMEMBRANCES PART3 (Ricordanze part 3), is a very slow and muddy doom, in the background there is an almost whispered male voice at the beginning of the song. At the end, the guitar survives creating very slow and destructive riffs.

The last track is a cover of At The Gates, "BLINDED BY FEAR", the first from the crucial album for the melodic death "Slaughter of the Soul", here in a doom version, slow and almost unrecognizable, almost completely altered. Despite being a cover, the riff is still very slow, with only the chorus and main riffs remaining recognizable.

I recommend doom metal lovers to download the album from the band's website and if they want, give me their opinion on the mini-cd.

I quite liked this album, although some riffs seem a bit overused and fall into predictability, I still await the next mini-cd to judge. Nonetheless, a 70 is deserved.
