Year 2008... the latest Vasco Rossi album is finally out.... Or is it the album of the Last Vasco Rossi..???...

Yes indeed.... because now the Discography of the Rocker from Zocca can be divided into two major sections:

The Old Vasco: from "Ma cosa vuoi che sia una Canzone" to "Liberi Liberi"

The New Vasco: from "Gli spari sopra" to "Il Mondo che Vorrei".

But what is the real difference between the two tracks...???... The difference is told to us by the good Vasco himself; while in "Una Canzone per te" Blasco says: "Songs are like flowers, they are born by themselves like dreams, and all we have to do is write them quickly, otherwise they vanish and don't come back...!!!...

In "Non vivo senza te," taken from the latest effort, he tells us "writing a song, is like dancing for hours, before falling to the ground exhausted from the effort, finally dead...!!!" ... Here we are... HERE'S THE DIFFERENCE... !!!... before, the songs were born spontaneously, from the gut, almost a need... now no... they are thought out, they are put together... a bit cold... IS it his fault????... no way... our Blasco has grown up, has matured... it is normal that it has come to this...

Do not compare this record with the old ones.. it makes no sense..!!!... The record should be evaluated for what Vasco is now... a 56-year-old man, with three kids, a wife, a big car and a company called VASCO ROSSI SPA... so... let's evaluate this Album.

There are some good songs, and unlike other older singers born in Correggio, our man from Zocca should at least be credited for at least trying to create something new:

"Non vivo senza te" and "Ho bisogno di te" are two strange songs, the former with a choir that Vasco has never used in previous records and the second a Tango (already seen in other records) but infuriated by a truly exciting Burns solo... result..??... 2 interesting songs, not among the best on the album but pleasant.

"Vieni Qui": a "trendy" Vasco piece, with a historic chorus and a text with some orthographic horror/error: "sarà difficile perfino anche per te".. my elementary school Italian teacher would have given me a poor grade.. anyway the piece runs smoothly... in the car, 40 degrees, window down, arm outside... it sounds really good.

"Dimmelo Te" and "Cosa importa a me": These too quite innovative.. the first is a driving Rock, without a chorus, but still intense.. the second on the other hand is tough.... Vasco's voice and intentions seem not even 30 years old... Beautiful!!!..

"Colpa del Wiskey": The classic Vasco... the one that doesn't sing but talks... the one that laughs while saying the verses... the one that..... Vasco... ...   Everything's good... or almost.. I can't digest the chorus... I LIKE YOU.. BUT HOW SHOULD I TELL YOU.... meh.... a slip in style..

"Il mondo che Vorrei": a dark song, beautiful lyrics... this is the song that marks the change... Vasco is no longer the one of Vita spericolata, but the one of "Non si può premere sempre l'acceleratore"....

Painful notes:

"Gioca con me": noooooooooooo..... music for Festivalbar....  not good here.... the others are songs of a 60-year-old who talks like a 60-year-old... here is a 60-year-old who talks like a horny thirty-year-old.. it's like if my grandfather saw a girl and told her "YOU DON'T WEAR CLOTHES... YOU OWN THEM" ..and then his dentures fall out.... NOT GOOD

"Basta poco"... not bad, not bad... but it doesn't belong to this album..... it's a single..and should have been left there.

A special mention for: "Adesso che tocca a me": Perhaps the song that at first glance surpasses the others in beauty... it's the classic Vasco... the one that still somehow keeps a connection with the past.... but I still don't know if it was done on purpose or it happened by chance.... let's say it's the only song I can see even in Vasco's "Old" records...

In conclusion, the latest by Vasco is not so bad after all... much better than "Buoni o Cattivi".... and then it's Vasco.. he could even sing the alphabet and it would be successful....!!!!... but watch out Mr.Rossi...  time passes... and when you realize it... it might be too late...!!!

Basta poco
a fare impressione
basta poco
basta andare in televisione
che la gente
subito ti riconosce per la strada
si fa presto
a montarsi la testa

e d’altronde è questa qui
la realtà di questa vita
ci si guarda solo fuori
ci si accontenta delle impressioni

ci si fotte allegramente
come se fosse niente
darei fuoco a casa tua
se mi passasse il mal di denti

e intanto il mondo rotola
e il mare sempre luccica

Basta poco
a fare bella figura
basta poco
basta esser buoni la domenica mattina
basta poco
per esser furbi
basta poco oh!
basta pensare che son tutti deficienti

e d’altronde è questa qua
la realtà di questa vita
di questa bella civiltà
così nobile e così antica

e intanto il mondo rotola
e il mare sempre luccica
domani è già domenica
e forse forse nevica

basta poco
per essere intolleranti
basta poco
basta esser solo un po’ ignoranti
basta poco
per non capire e scappare via
basta poco
perché ti dia fastidio uno pur che sia

e intanto il mondo rotola
e il mare sempre luccica
domani è già doenica
e forse forse nevica

Vasco Rossi is a great 'musical suggestionist' who aims straight at the heart of the average Italian who is happy to dream...

'Dimmelo te' is one of the best tracks of the entire work, an urgent and never exaggerated rock cry of despair.

I can’t accept this Vasco of 2008, those small, simple verses, but direct to the stomach like a punch, that made him unique and authentic for years, have been replaced by useless moans without meaning.

Despite star collaborations and packed stadiums, this album gives the sensation of listening to a Vasco that is not authentic and uninspired.

An industry that sells a lot, produces stellar profits, and puts mass products of good quality on the market.

Vasco, by now, is nothing but an industry... he defends the brand.

the music that comes out is... of a material much more artificial than all of the above mentioned.

The slumber of reason produces monsters, and sells them for about €20.

By DEMIAN

"Vasco was, is, and always will be an artist."

"Good job Vasco, tell all the jealous ones to go to hell and continue to fill San Siro and all the other Italian stadiums."
