I begin by stating that I intend to review this album with the sole purpose of describing what I have listened to, regardless of whether I like Vasco or not.

If what I'm about to say could help calm the so-called "music professionals," then I wanted to say that in my humble opinion, the average Italian is not a freak show phenomenon but rather the "disease" of certain "superior" minds who hate those who are not experts in something but merely impressionable dreamers and content that way. In my view, Vasco Rossi is a great "musical suggestionist" who aims straight at the heart of the average Italian who is happy to dream... and perhaps dance together with thousands of other people in a stadium...

But let's start with the review of the latest album by the Emilian author... "Il mondo che vorrei" is a Rock album with some Pop hints... a useful mix for the final result, which would be the popularity of the tracks... and the increased chaos in stadiums.                                                                                            

"Il mondo che vorrei"
is the song that gives the entire album its name and is also proposed as the first single on radio rotation. In this song, all the characteristics of the singer come to life, namely a clear, simple, and quick writing style that is elevated by growing musicality capable of redefining the needs the writer describes in phrases like "one cannot fly over mountains...here, one can only lose...and in the end, one can't even lose anymore..." All of this is strongly invigorated by the final guitar solo that recalls the atmospheres of: "Gli angeli" and "Vivere".

"Vieni qui"
Classic rock ballad in a Vasco style where he invents a conversation with a person (probably a woman) in which he asks the interlocutor to vent to him by revealing their weaknesses instead of being "snobbish" and stupid... and thus the song explodes in a rather aggressive chorus where the cry of resignation states: "Look at me...you'll never find another like me... it will be difficult even for you... who have always had everything easy..." the guitar in the verses gently accompanies lyrics that express their meaning mainly thanks to the musicality of the words.

"Gioca con me"
The participation of Slash on guitar definitely does nothing but positively qualify a heavily rock track with a classic radio bomb vibe, using a very light and liberating text where the author describes a beautiful woman, highlighting the theme of feminine superficiality in our times in the concluding phrase "and when she's not satisfying you anymore...discard her as you know how to...". The triviality of the track initially disturbs a bit, given that one expects more seriousness from Vasco, but after a few listens, one realizes that the carefreeness and courage to express oneself as one thinks never spoil anything.

"E adesso che tocca a me"
The album catches its breath with a song of light and singer-songwriter flavors where Vasco lays bare his nature as a man, leaving the "artist" elsewhere... within a simple and linear text, he also finds room for critique of the good people who no longer exist. Irony is also not abandoned in phrases like "and now that Topo Gigio is no more... what do I do with Switzerland?" in a text where regret mainly dominates for dreams and illusions that transport us to a certainly better reality, giving us the ability to chase goals when one is young...(young age) which Vasco no longer has.

"Dimmelo te"
In my opinion, one of the best tracks of the entire work. Urgent and never exaggerated rock... a cry of despair to defeat the confusion that grips our days... a violent desire for explanations toward those who appear perfect and flawless in our eyes... A hermetic text initially difficult to understand deeply "Dimmelo te...how are you? You never take...second thoughts..." impeccable arrangements for an angry yet melancholic and liberating track.

"Cosa importa a me"
Almost metal heavy rock for a Vasco Rossi with a voice almost "rap-like". A disenchanted Vasco in a world of lies and deceit... of love and betrayal... Trust finds room for no one anymore... Altogether he judges within the text the combination of all these "tragic" and "cross-eyed" features... The ideal mix for a "splendid life". A solid and musically unvaried track that allows an escape route in the peculiarity of the end... a track full of questions and very few answers if not a violent "cosa importa a me".

"Non vivo senza te"
A very risky song capable of ruining an entire album... seems to have come out of the Zero Assoluto’s recording studio... quite beautiful the reason of the verses where Vasco compares his own fatigue in writing a song (now at a certain age) to the exhaustion that destroys us at the end of a love... The ballad shines with new light during the chorus where as a final cry of despair the man now definitively destroyed asks the woman now far away "Do you want me to sing it in a splendid song...? So you'll hear it sung by millions of people...? NON VIVO SENZA TE!!!

"Qui si fa la storia"
But here comes the real rock in a track where Vasco allows himself the luxury of prescribing his music as a cure for all the psychological ills of his hypothetical listener... also betting on the fate of his success... Confident of his means in the phrase "Here we make history or we don't!!!... everything will be decided here"... Note the guitar break after the second refrain... and especially the atmospheres that take us back about 15 years to the Vasco of the "show".

"Colpa del whisky"
Sweet and clear ballad... a classic love song in the Vasco style in which a playful dialogue is improvised with a girl who hasn't yet understood that his silly way is simply governed by deep love for her... the track loses its temper with the real declaration of love "I like you...I only like you...How else can I tell you?" The instrumental combination is spot on, once again the musicality of the words is more important than the meaning and the verse-chorus play makes "colpa del whisky" a rather relaxing and pleasant piece in terms of catchiness.

"Non sopporto"
A full-fledged rock piece where criticism reigns supreme towards a world made of false and hypocritical people... Already performed live during the 2007 tour but well rendered also on the cd version... among all stands out the phrase "I can't stand people like you...those who trust themselves...those who always say yes to you...but when you look for them...they are not there"

"Ho bisogno di te"
Certainly, there couldn't be a lack of a break from the rule... that is "the experimentation" a track that roots itself on a single phrase revolving around a guitar with different tones, vaguely reminiscent of a past similar attempt considered "toffe", that of managing to gift a wide imagination with as few words as possible... the rhythm is Latin-flavored and after a few listens becomes quite enjoyable... If it weren't for the fact that one risks being silly humming this little tune that once it's in your head, it's hard to get rid of.

"Basta poco"
The album closes with a track now well-known for a year..."Basta poco" which perfectly summarizes with its provocative text the main theme of the entire work... a piece that, in my opinion, would have been better replaced with a new one. But what can you do, everyone is the master of their choices... and so far, the Blasco's choices have rarely disappointed...

 I can’t accept this Vasco of 2008, those small, simple verses, but direct to the stomach like a punch, that made him unique and authentic for years, have been replaced by useless moans without meaning.

 Despite star collaborations and packed stadiums, this album gives the sensation of listening to a Vasco that is not authentic and uninspired.

 Before, the songs were born spontaneously, from the gut, almost a need... now no... they are thought out, they are put together... a bit cold... IS it his fault????... no way... our Blasco has grown up, has matured... it is normal that it has come to this...

 In conclusion, the latest by Vasco is not so bad after all... much better than 'Buoni o Cattivi'... and then it’s Vasco.. he could even sing the alphabet and it would be successful!
