THE WORLD I'D LIKE - VASCO ROSSI
Reviews should be done by both fans and critics. I've never idolized Vasco Rossi, but I still feel obliged to express an opinion on a rock(?!)star from our country.
In particular, I want to examine his latest album, as one is as good as the other...
As we've gotten used to, every time something of his is released, it's always a sales record in Italy, with the usual devoted fans running here and there in search of this new "work." "The World I'd Like" is the same old song from Blasco, now in decline for many years: it can't be overlooked. The times when creativity reigned supreme are over, I think, for example, of great songs like "Liberi...Liberi" or "Vivere", which launched him toward a rosy and profitable career.
Even those weren't real rock, granted, but at least they were heartfelt songs, written with one hand on the pen and one on the heart, although it's worth highlighting the importance that his friend Massimo Riva had in his rise. It's no coincidence that after his death, Vasco died artistically.
This album is launched by the eponymous title track, which at first listen seems nice, but nothing more. After two listens, the atmosphere seems to have that certain something of tedious, repetitive, useless. It feels like Our Guy could have put in more effort. Hopes of novelty are dashed by the second single, such as "Gioca con me". The usual pop-flavored melody, somewhat uncharacteristic for him, with the usual vulgarities both in the video and in the lyrics. At least it could have been original...
Forgive my ignorance about the third single, I really can't remember it, but it's not my fault; if it were a great song, I would probably remember it, don't you think? "Colpa del whisky" is personally the track I prefer (given the limited range of choice): I was captured by the title and its strummed chorus, probably written at the speed of light.
After briefly analyzing the majesty of this great "masterpiece," I can only wait anxiously for his new album, to be released whenever, to thus definitively highlight the decline of Vasco Rossi. A myth, who has never really been a myth.

12 Basta poco (04:32)
Basta poco
a fare impressione
basta poco
basta andare in televisione
che la gente
subito ti riconosce per la strada
si fa presto
a montarsi la testa
e d’altronde è questa qui
la realtà di questa vita
ci si guarda solo fuori
ci si accontenta delle impressioni
ci si fotte allegramente
come se fosse niente
darei fuoco a casa tua
se mi passasse il mal di denti
e intanto il mondo rotola
e il mare sempre luccica
Basta poco
a fare bella figura
basta poco
basta esser buoni la domenica mattina
basta poco
per esser furbi
basta poco oh!
basta pensare che son tutti deficienti
e d’altronde è questa qua
la realtà di questa vita
di questa bella civiltà
così nobile e così antica
e intanto il mondo rotola
e il mare sempre luccica
domani è già domenica
e forse forse nevica
basta poco
per essere intolleranti
basta poco
basta esser solo un po’ ignoranti
basta poco
per non capire e scappare via
basta poco
perché ti dia fastidio uno pur che sia
e intanto il mondo rotola
e il mare sempre luccica
domani è già doenica
e forse forse nevica

Vasco Rossi is a great 'musical suggestionist' who aims straight at the heart of the average Italian who is happy to dream...
'Dimmelo te' is one of the best tracks of the entire work, an urgent and never exaggerated rock cry of despair.

I can’t accept this Vasco of 2008, those small, simple verses, but direct to the stomach like a punch, that made him unique and authentic for years, have been replaced by useless moans without meaning.
Despite star collaborations and packed stadiums, this album gives the sensation of listening to a Vasco that is not authentic and uninspired.

An industry that sells a lot, produces stellar profits, and puts mass products of good quality on the market.
Vasco, by now, is nothing but an industry... he defends the brand.

Before, the songs were born spontaneously, from the gut, almost a need... now no... they are thought out, they are put together... a bit cold... IS it his fault????... no way... our Blasco has grown up, has matured... it is normal that it has come to this...
In conclusion, the latest by Vasco is not so bad after all... much better than 'Buoni o Cattivi'... and then it’s Vasco.. he could even sing the alphabet and it would be successful!

the music that comes out is... of a material much more artificial than all of the above mentioned.
The slumber of reason produces monsters, and sells them for about €20.
