"Scialla!"

Not just a simple title, but a philosophy-laden warning, a mantra aimed at a whole new conception of existence: living lightly through the worries that fate reserves for us, seizing the fleeting moment and enjoying its joyful transience, even with the bitterness that it will never return. This, if you will, is the main concept of this album, released just a few days ago, whose name is indissolubly linked to the famous Mediaset school-show.

Highly anticipated by fans and others alike, almost as much as "Chinese Democracy" overseas, the album released by Sony (which has always been very attentive to the quality of its productions and artists) jumped to the top of the charts just a few hours after its release. Why? I believe the answer lies in the glossy and meticulous technical execution, in addition to the substantial presence of dense artistic material of which the optical disc is the messenger: as many as 18 tracks comprise the work, plus the show's theme song (written by none other than Gigi D'Alessio).

The quality is high, extremely high, dizzyingly so I dare say: it touches on black music ("Can't Stop" by Valerio Scanu, "Find A Way" by Alessandra Amoroso, just to name a few examples), the most local pop ("Due Cose Importanti" with a Martina Stavolo in a state of grace), the more international pop and real rock jolts that captivate, daze, and give the listener a significant rush of adrenaline. The arrangements are meticulously crafted, with melodies that will satisfy lovers of easy listening, but also those who seek something more refined and intimate or closer to alternative. "Vai", "Tutto Il Tempo Che Vorrai", "Stella Incantevole" are the most significant and captivating tracks of the album, which certainly won't easily come out of your players.

In short, it is a varied work, well assorted, which perfectly witnesses how Italian music is climbing back up the slope. And who knows if salvation will come from these new promises.....

One thing is certain: even this year we've gotten rid of the Amici album.
