Lovers of the neo-millennial metal will have much to be excited about for the third chapter of the "Saw" saga (aka "L’Enigmista"). Indeed, Charlie Clouser (formerly of Nine Inch Nails), who - after the great success of the two previous soundtracks - has been called again to assemble the sonic actors, has arranged an explosive dish, focusing on a devastating mix of metal-core, new metal, cyber metal, screamo, New Wave Of American Heavy Metal and New Wave Of Extreme Swedish Metal (even though these last ones aren’t so new anymore…), and placing some frightening heavyweights such as Slayer, Meshuggah, Ministry, and Mastodon, along with the underrated (which seems incredible…) Helmet, underrated for the reception of their latest "Monochrome" (represented here by the title track).
However, all names would be worthy of mention because when you come across Static X, Amorphis, Disturbed, Soilwork, Lamb Of God, All That Remains, or Dimmu Borgir, you can’t do otherwise. It’s clear that the intent of such a soundtrack is to sell a lot, propelled by the film’s success and the content of the disc, but it must be admitted that 21 tracks (and as many groups) have been assembled that, in almost their entirety (notable, in a negative way, is the performance of the terrible and unrecognizable Eighteen Visions), manage to combine quality, quantity, and musical violence, but also guaranteed radio appeal (and here I think of Avenged Sevenfold, rather than Bullet For My Valentine, Blue October or Drowning Pool).
