Rocky Balboa: The Best of Rocky

This collection is pure energy. A series of captivating classics that have served as the soundtrack for the endless film saga of Rocky Balboa. The orchestral sound of "Gonna Fly Now" by Bill Conti is old-fashioned but extremely effective and well-structured. It's particularly remembered during Rocky's run through the streets of Philadelphia, chased by an enthusiastic bunch of kids. "Eye of The Tiger" by Survivor is thrilling and instills courage, appearing in multiple films, always supporting adrenaline-pumping moments and the extreme training of the Hollywood champion. More introspective, it will also return in the very last episode, with Bill Conti's "Going the Distance". Track 4 leaves a devastating mark. It's the pillar James Brown singing it "live" in Rocky IV, before the clash between Apollo Creed and the Soviet. It's "Living in America". Needless to emphasize the energy of the piece and the strong symbolic value it can be attributed. The fact remains that Brown's cameo is a true gem, and his piece frames a majestic dance spectacle. Also by Conti are "Redemption" and "Conquest". The former is melancholic and reflective, the latter extremely orchestral and evocative. How can one forget "Burning Heart" by Survivor? Your blood will pulse through your veins as you listen to this energetic 80s rock. There are also very sad pieces by Bill Conti such as "Adrian" and "Alone In The Ring", where the piano arrangement completely transforms the piece. In "Mickey", the strings and brass split it in two. Listen to the triumphant sound of "Overture", not to mention "Hearts on Fire" by John Cafferty (Rocky IV).
In short, 17 excellent tracks, and for saga enthusiasts, an unmissable and exciting CD.
