The Cervia Boys were booed for five minutes and honored with the classic chant: "go to work!". Franco Mussida was spotted at the bar. A two-year-old child dancing and waving to everyone captivated the audience's attention. These were the highlights of the charity concert Music for Asia on Monday, March 21st.
"Elisa was there!", some of the more adventurous among you might say, "at least someone who does something original in the Italian music scene!" Leaving aside the quality of that comment, I have to tell you that yes, Elisa was there, but only on the big screens. In fact, she had cancelled for the evening but had recorded two songs the day before to show to the audience.
Naturally encouraged by the head roadie, we had to applaud to strengthen the illusion for the home audience. I had no faith in the audience, and despite the encouraging chorus for Cervia, the rest of the evening was just ordinary. The Gemelli DiVersi, D'Alessio, and Dj Francesco arrive, and the crowd goes wild. Vecchioni or Antonella Ruggiero with maestro Colonna take the stage, and people head to the bar. The microphones failed with Zucchero, his backing singer, and maestro Colonna's classical guitar. D'Amico made a big fool of herself. A packet of chips costs two euros. My friend Ricky arrived half an hour late, but the ticket counters were closed and they didn't let him in. And then you're not supposed to go to the scalpers.
Oh, and I forgot, Angunn was as beautiful as she was lip-syncing, as was the orchestra for most of the time. At the end of the evening, they announced a revenue of 1'000,000 euros for Sri Lanka. All very nice, let's hope it's true. Next time I won't satisfy anyone, I’ll spend the money on the Peter Gabriel CD I didn't get. Long live Italy
